Title: To Borrow or Not to Borrow
Should you go to college even if you have to take out school loans? Perhaps the better question is this: What is God's direction for your life at this time? That may or may not include college. If God does intend for you to extend your education, it may or may not be at the college that's your number one choice. The underlying theme in this time of decision has more to do with trusting God than it does with going to college. The bigger issue is if you really believe that God has a purpose for your life and if you believe His purpose is the best for you. What Does God Say?"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11, NKJV). "For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you" (Matthew 6:32-33, NASB). Think about the above verses, and write down what they say about God's care and provision in your life. My ThoughtsNow, write down a list of the things that you need to pray about. Consider the following as you make your list.
My PartLast, pray about all the things on your list. Then sit down with your parents and discuss your list. Ask your parents to pray with you and provide God's wisdom through their advice and experience. Decide now that the best education that you can get is found in knowing, believing and living out God's Word. College is just one more detail in committing yourself to God's purpose for your life.
