Title: Finding Your Fit in the Church
It was one of those jigsaw puzzle moments. Hundreds of pieces remained and none seemed to fit. Then a piece with two loops and a straight edge found its place. And because one loop had a tinge of blue and the other loop had a tinge of brown, the picture began to take shape. The apostle Paul writes: "For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another" (Romans 12:4-5, NKJV). The "body" Paul refers to is the church; the local Body of Christ is our church family. Paul reminds us that as believers we are to find our fit within the church. Just as a jigsaw puzzle began to take shape, so the church reflects the heart and hands of Christ when all the members find their place. What Does God Say?In the Kingdom of God, there are no soloists. God desires for us to be part of a local church, and there is a local church in which we will fit. When we find it, we discover a sense of belonging, a deeper sense of God's purpose and a way of loving what is dear to the Lord. "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25, NIV). My ThoughtsTake a few minutes to answer these questions:
If you answered "no" to the first question, ask God to guide you to a church home. If you answered "no" to any of the rest, visit with your pastor and ask his help in finding your place. My PartPray that God will deepen your love for and from your church family.
