Title: Where Can I Find Truth?
In 2002 the Barna Research Group asked Americans, "What is truth?" By a margin of 3 to 1, adults said that truth depends on your circumstances. When this question was asked of teenagers, the margin was even greater. This means that most Americans determine truth by their feelings about a situation. According to Barna, this was true even among Christians. If it feels right, can it be wrong? But is this really the best way to find truth? What Does God Say?In the Garden of Gethsemane, on the night He was betrayed, Jesus spoke with His Father and said, "Sanctify [set apart for special use] them by Your truth. Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified [set apart] by the truth" (John 17:17-19, NKJV).
My ThoughtsJesus links truth not to our feelings but to God's Word. He calls the Bible "Your truth." You have been sent into your school, your workplace, your community to make a difference. The key to making a difference is knowing the truth, God's Word. My PartCommit today to spending 15 minutes reading God's Word at least three times a week. Gradually increase the number of times you are reading your Bible until it becomes a daily habit. If you are wondering where to start reading, use one of our Bible reading plans at backtothebible.org. Additional Scripture to read: John 8:31-32; 1 Timothy 2:3-4; 2 Timothy 2:15
